A STARRY STARRY NIGHT FOR ANYTHING GOES

Who doesn’t love a press night? Tonight (4 Aug), we rolled out the blue carpet and welcomed celeb guests and theatre critics to the Barbican Theatre for the press night of our major revival of Anything Goes. Special guests included Strictly Come Dancing stars Craig Revell Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Arlene Phillips, Loose Women Linda Robson, Brenda Edwards and Janet Street-Porter, Bonnie Langford, Christopher Biggins, Gyles Brandreth and Sinitta.

In this major revival of Cole Porter & P.G. Wodehouse’s lavish musical comedy Anything Goes, Sutton Foster reprises her Tony Award-winning role of Reno Sweeney. Foster stars alongside Tony, Olivier & BAFTA Award winner Robert Lindsay, Evening Standard Theatre Award winner Felicity Kendal and leading West End musical actor Gary Wilmot.

And it was certainly a starry night in more ways than one.

In a glorious 5-star review for The Telegraph, Marianka Swain said: “Anything Goes is a show that will make you gasp in wonder and laugh till it hurts. The Barbican’s joyous revival of a Cole Porter classic – charming, hilarious and packed with epic ensembles – will set your world to rights.”

Tim Walker writing for The New European proclaimed: “Not really one to jump the gun like this, but, on the basis of the first part alone, and given Anything Goes, this is getting ★★★★★  from me. Absolutely stunning.”

Broadway World also awarded the show a glittering 5-stars, claiming: “As close to perfect as you can get – we can’t wait to set sail again.”

In another five star online review, All That Dazzles stated: “Not all shows are created equal and when it comes to musicals Anything Goes really is the top. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the best show I have ever seen – so it’s an obvious ★★★★★  from me.”

Anything Goes has well and truly set sail!
