THEATRE ROYAL SYDNEY’S OPENING NIGHT

The Australian tour of Jagged Little Pill, the Grammy and Tony Award winning Broadway musical, inspired Alanis Morissette’s ground-breaking album of the same name, premiered in style at the newly renovated and iconic Theatre Royal Sydney last night.

A glitzy, glamourous affair, the opening night was attended by excited theatregoers, critics, media, VIPs, Government officials and Producers keen to witness the stunning theatre transformation and enjoy the critically-acclaimed show.

An architectural masterpiece and centrepiece of theatre in Sydney’s CBD, this stunning 1200 seat historical Australian theatre is an important step forward for Sydney’s arts and cultural sector and will bring performance and creativity once again to the heart of Sydney whilst expanding international tour possibilities within Australia.

Houri Tapiki, General Manager at Theatre Royal Sydney, said: “It has been quite the ride but we made it! We officially opened Theatre Royal Sydney after six long years of closure. A complex building refurbishment, building a team from scratch during a pandemic and extensive lockdowns. We’ve had it all… but on our opening night we had a lot to be proud of and it makes my heart full to see the theatre alive again.”

Today, the producers of Jagged Little Pill also confirmed that after its Melbourne season at the Comedy Theatre from 2 January, the production will move to Perth’s Crown Theatre from 14 May and due to demand will triumphantly return to Theatre Royal Sydney from 9 July 2022.
